What is 5-MeO-DMT?
Hint! It’s not the same as DMT.
5-MeO-DMT is often confused with the more widely known N, N-DMT. Although they may share commonalities in name and molecular structure, the experiences associated with the drugs are quite different.
While N, N-DMT is famous for its intense visions and sense of total disconnect from one’s body, the lesser known 5-MeO-DMT allows its user to experience ego death and a nearly indescribable sense of oneness with the universe at breakthrough doses.
5-MeO-DMT is one of the most powerful psychedelic tryptamines in the world. The compound is found in several varieties of plants and most famously in the venom of the Sonoran Desert Toad (Bufo alvarius).
Unfortunately, the growing popularity of the drug has led to wanton overharvesting of the Bufo toad which is a species already vulnerable to manmade environmental pressures. It is now listed as an endangered species.
As 5-MeO-DMT can be safely synthesized in a laboratory setting, there is no need for users to cause irreparable environmental damage in seeking therapeutic, spiritual or recreational experiences. We do not sell or condone selling and using 5-MeO-DMT derived from the Bufo toad.
5-MeO-DMT Benefits & Risks
Risks
As with the consumption of any psychedelic, there are inherent psychological and physiological risks involved.
Those who are prescribed and are actively taking MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) or certain anti-depressants should not consume 5-MeO-DMT in any form due to the risk of Serotonin syndrome which can be fatal.
Due to the possibility of fluctuations in heart rate, we strongly discourage use of 5-MeO-DMT in those with heart conditions.
Nausea is also a common side effect during the onset of the experience but tends to subside quickly and there is a possibility users may dissociate or interact inappropriately with their environments.
Benefits
While there is limited research into the therapeutic use of 5-MeO-DMT, most people report intense mystical experiences after taking a breakthrough dose. In the studies that have been conducted, study participants who reported being diagnosed with psychiatric disorders including post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety and substance abuse disorders claimed improvements to their symptoms following their 5-MeO-DMT sessions.
A 2018 study from Brazil demonstrated a single 5-MeO-DMT dose stimulated the proliferation of nerve cells in the hippocampus of mice. This type of neurogenic and neuroplasticity promoting effect is thought to contribute to the antidepressant properties of serotonergic psychedelics similar to 5-MeO-DMT.
While research into the drug’s effects is in its nascent stage, the preliminary clinical findings and anecdotal evidence show promise for mental health and addictions treatment applications.
5-MeO-DMT Legality
Unlike N, N-DMT and many other psychedelics, 5-MeO-DMT is legal to produce, consume and distribute as it is not a controlled substance in Canada and is legal to possess.
5-MeO-DMT is a Schedule I controlled substance in the US, making it illegal to manufacture, distribute, possess, or buy.
5-MeO-DMT is not controlled in Mexico. It is prohibited in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and many European countries.

The 5-MeO-DMT Trip
5-MeO-DMT is intense and fast acting with onset of effects setting in within 15-30 seconds of inhalation. The peak of the experience typically occurs within one minute of dosing and can last up to 15 minutes. The effects tend to taper off after thirty minutes, and afterglow effects can be felt up to an hour. Most users will return to baseline around the hour mark.
It is very common to experience nausea at the onset of the experience, but this tends to taper off quickly. It is also likely you will temporarily experience spatial disorientation and a possible loss of motor function during the peak of the trip.
5-MeO-DMT is four to six times more powerful than N, N-DMT and produces a profoundly mystical experience at breakthrough doses. 5-MeO is not known for producing the type of visionary experiences and strong visual hallucinations associated with N, N-DMT, but it is possible to see complex geometric patterns, or a phenomenon known as a white-out: a blinding white light in the place of typical psychedelic visuals.
The experience also produces strong, often overwhelming tactile awareness and sensitivity along with intense emotions. Ego dissolution (essentially, the ability to transcend our usual state of self-referential perception) and transpersonal or mystical experiences where the sense of self extends beyond the individual and encompasses all humankind, nature and the universe are commonly reported.
How is synthetic 5-MeO DMT Made?
We offer synthetic 5-MeO-DMT products due to ethical and environmental considerations surrounding venom extraction from the Bufo Toad.
Synthetic 5-MeO-DMT is produced in a laboratory setting using a controlled and clean process to deliver a safe, reliable and effective product.
Step 1: Synthesis
The first step is to mix the chemical precursors and allow the chemical reaction to proceed to completion under cold temperatures.
Step 2: Purification
After the reaction has completed, we purify the 5-MeO-DMT in a two-stage distillation process. First, we use gentle heating to remove residual water and reaction by-products. Next, we increase the temperature under low pressure to distill 5-MeO-DMT from residual salts left over following the reaction. The distilled raw product will then crystallize.
Step 3: Testing
The crystallized 5-MeO-DMT is then sent out to a third-party laboratory for testing. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) is used to ensure the product is clean and the reaction completed correctly. Once testing is completed and the safety and purity of the product is confirmed, the crystallized 5-MeO-DMT moves on to formulation: The next step on its journey to finished product.
Step 4: Formulation
5-MeO-DMT crystals are thoroughly dissolved in diluent and flavour is added.
Step 5: Packaging
After formulation, ceramic vaporizer cartridges are filled with an exacting weight of the formulated product to ensure consistency and precision in dosing. The cartridge is then sealed, packaged and ready for delivery.
